Virginia's lemon law applies to new vehicles with a defect that substantially impairs its use, safety, or value. A manufacturer must have 3 attempts to repair the defect or the vehicle must be out of service for 30 days. Consumers may be entitled to a refund or replacement vehicle. Claims must be filed within 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.
